Our History
Delta Air Systems was started in mid 1950’s by Austin York in the City of Cambridge. At the time Austin specialized in Heat Pumps, Residential Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Austin ran a very successful business until he retired and sold the company to Pete and Randy Dyck in the early 1970’s.
Pete and Randy Dyck were one of the largest York heat pump dealers in the area. They specialized in residential heating and cooling as well as small to light commercial refrigeration. The business continued to be successful and was sold to Don Gosen of Gosen Electric in 1986.
In the late 1980’s, Don Gosen was instrumental in promoting an Electrical Upgrade Program through Ontario Hydro to upgrade electrical services from 60 Amp to 200 Amp to handle electric furnace and heat pump conversions. During this time, Don aligned Delta Air Systems with Lennox, one of the most prominent and trusted HVAC manufacturers in the industry. In 1990 Don Gosen hired Kelvin Wood to take on the additional responsibilities of running the ever growing HVAC division, Delta Air Systems.
Kelvin saw the enormous opportunities that this company had with the long working history and successful partnerships with their HVAC suppliers and Channel partners. In 1992 Kelvin Wood, successfully negotiated the purchase of Delta Air Systems from Gosen Electric.
Delta Air Systems has remained in Waterloo ever since and has grown to a 24 hour Emergency Service Company that now employs over 40 people and has a working relationship with over 20,000 satisfied customers. As we all know the success of any company today is largely dependent on the quality of its people. We currently employ fully licensed gas fitters, sheet metal mechanics, refrigeration mechanics, electricians, and plumbers. We pride ourselves in the fact that we are one of the few companies that meets the ministry of labours licensed mechanic to apprenticeship ratios.
