An alternative to a whole-home forced-air system, a ductless AC is an energy-efficient option that provides zoned cooling throughout the house. It can complement your current air conditioning, be used in spaces that don’t have access to the home’s cooling system, or be installed in a home that doesn’t have any ductwork.
Also known as a mini-split system, ductless AC uses mounted indoor units throughout the house connected to a single outdoor condensing unit by a thin copper tube. Since there is no ducting required, ductless AC installation is fast and easy. You can have multiple units indoors with only one unit outdoors. And they’re quiet. Much quieter than conventional AC systems.
One of the biggest benefits of a ductless mini-split is that having multiple units is really the same as zoning. Each zone can have its own indoor unit and thermostat, meaning you can control the temperature throughout the home depending on which areas you spend the most (and least time) in.
