Winter Dangerously cold weather is here!
Temperatures are dropping rapidly in Southern Ontario and as a result, your furnace is putting in some overtime. In circumstances of extreme cold, your heating systems work extended hours to keep your house warm, sometimes at the expense of their longevity.
If your furnace hasn’t been serviced and/or replaced in accordance with the needs of your home, you and your family could be in for a chilling experience. Look no further than Delta Air Systems customer Annie T., her furnace broke down last winter, here is her story.
Last year, on one of the coldest days of the year, the heat suddenly stopped working at my parents’ house. We have to admit that we had neglected it a little bit, and when we needed it to work, it decided that it needed a vacation. Knowing that most businesses were closed on this cold Saturday evening, we called Delta Air System’s emergency line. We left a message, and within 15 minutes, we had someone call us back to ask what was happening. The kind fellow walked us through a few very easy troubleshooting steps and gave us a little idea on what was happening.
Turns out, our furnace was fairly old and one of the parts just of course stopped working. After all, it had been through 15+ years of keeping our house warm! When their service team got there, he took a look at the unit and gave us our options – we could either fix it, or get a new one altogether. We never felt pressured to make a decision, but we decided that we probably just need to replace it all together.
Annie’s family had a quick and pleasant experience having their new furnace installed but for some newer systems, replacement may not be the answer. As she also noted, routinely servicing your heating system could prevent a situation like this all together:
When it comes down to it, our furnace is a very important part of our home, we rely on it, but we might also be neglecting it. If my family got our furnace serviced more often, we wouldn’t have had to panic and be without heat. We could have realized the issues before it came down to breaking.
