Gesundheit! Uh oh, that sneeze means allergy season is upon us. The weather might be beautiful, but allergies make it all so difficult to enjoy.
In the spring, allergies can cause headaches, nausea or irritation of the nose, throat and eyes due to the pollutants in the air. Pollen, freshly cut grass, seasonal animal dander and many other irritants are floating around making you uncomfortable.
Your home however, should be a safe haven from the negative aspects of spring. To ensure this, you’ll need proper preparation. Here are two tips for a worry free season:
Air purification system
Air purification systems can attach directly to your HVAC systems and they provide the best in home air quality. Purification systems are used to combat air contaminants such as dust, dirt, pollen, mould spores, bacteria, viruses, odours or potentially harmful chemicals.
Purification systems are more than just filtration. They can often be used to not only remove pollutants from your home air, but can also breakdown the especially harmful ones.
If you suffer from any kind of allergies, hay fever or any other irritations caused by the new season, an air purification system is an essential part of your HVAC set-up.

Change your air filter
HVAC filters can make a big difference in your air quality, but it is imperative that you have the right one for your home.
Filters come in different sizes and MERV ratings (resistances) and without the proper fit for your system, your home comfort will suffer.
The MERV rating on your filter is what decides how many particles are kept out of your living space. If they are too restrictive, they will harm the airflow in your system and if they aren’t restrictive enough, too many particles will pass through into your home making you uncomfortable throughout the day. Restricted airflow can cause damage and shutdowns in any of your HVAC systems, so it is very important that you don’t choose a filter that is too restrictive.
