No Ducts? No Problem! If you’re a homeowner that’s suffered through one too many hot humid Ontario summers because you don’t have ductwork in your home, your worries are over.
There’s not many days that go by in the warmer months that we don’t get a call from someone wondering how much it’s going to cost or how much construction it’s going to take to install a duct system in their home so they can finally have central air conditioning and a decent nights sleep.
Old century homes with boiler heat, electric baseboard heated homes, and even homes with unducted additions are ideal for Ductless Split System Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps. How do they work? Very simply, they put the compressor in a unit outside in the yard similar to typical central air systems. Connect it to a strategically placed fan coil(s) wall mounted unit(s) on the indoors. Hook up some power, attach a drain line, run refrigerant lines between the indoor and outdoor units and there you have it. Sounds easy. Of course it’s a little more involved than that, but essentially, that the deal.
We’ve had 20 years experience installing these systems and the feedback is always the same . . . “Awesome, finally a great nights sleep!”.
So see for yourself, the following video is a system we’re installing in a century home in a grand old end of town. You can almost feel it, but you can barely hear it!
