For years now Ontario New Home Buyers have enjoyed the protection of the New Home Warranty Program. This program can be a piece of mind when you’re dishing out more money than most of us have ever seen at one time. The new heating equipment in your new home has a minimum 2 year warranty. That’s great for the new home buyer! This in itself is a tremendous benefit to the owner, the builder and even the structure.
Lately though, new homeowners are finding that the heating equipment that’s been installed in their home comes with apparent caveats, proviso’s and conditions that may not be part of the New Home Warranty. All too often new home buyers are led to believe by way of notices and stickers attached to the furnace and ducting that any warranty the customer is due will be void if any other contractor should attempt to service the equipment or install additional equipment to the system.
This of course is just not the case. As far back as 2001, the director of the Ontario New Home Warranty Program addressed this issue specifically. Please see the following:
So, if you were considering purchasing and installing a new HRV, filter, humidifier or Air Conditioner in your brand new house, rest assured that you are not locked into a contractor that is using scare tactics to garner their next sale.
